To EGS,
I have rebuilt more aluminum bore Porsche engines with alusil than I care to remember. Often the bore is within tolerances and doesn't need to be honed or fixed as long as the taper is good and there aren't any problems. I don't know an alternate process to the Sunnen protocol as that is what we always use. No the Turbo has different pistons with the same rod length and wristpin location as the NA cars except hte 944S2 and the 968. You should be alright with 10.2.1 pistons as long as they are factory wristpin locations and your stroke hasn't changed. I would consider using better rod bolts during your rod rebuild if you plan on keeping a heavy factory rod.
We have rods that weigh about 250 grams less each...1/2 pound and are stronger, but they aren't cheap at $895 but they are the best.
