I hear what you're saying, and I understand Wayne's position somewhat. My main problem is that I do not really know what occured in the end of that thread, so I am assuming that the political stuff insensed someone and he killed it, which is of course his perrogative. Just not a good precedent, IMO.
When I left the thread, (which I had started), it was jousting between several well-established members, including a moderator, and maybe I'm nuts but I thought that we were having some fun. The level of civility on this site is mind-boggling compared to elsewhere on the web, it truly is an outstanding BBS and this reflects directly on Pelican and Wayne and Tom, IMO.
Name-calling is against policy and I wondered at first if my calling Noah an "ignorant slut" killed the thread. I should state that I have met Noah in the real world and like him a lot. I also give him more than ample credit for smarts and sense of humor, plus a fluency in pop culture that would recognise an old "SNL" joke. Maybe someone else took it wrong??
The bottom line is that we are big boys around here, the OT forum is not for the thin-skinned or dim-witted, but for the rest of us it is (was) a lot of fun. I think that a permanent sticky warning the overly sensitive away from here would do wonders:
"The views expressed here do not constitute any position by Pelican Parts, in fact we at P.P. do not even read this section, etc..."
