We went to Savannah, GA in August. One day the heat index was 135! It was like a steam bath.
Just walking in the shaded parking garage from the hotel lobby to my 911 got me sweaty. We went to eat at a really cool old house that is a restaurant called The Olde Pink House. Amazing fact is the mansion predates the formation of the United States. It faces Reynolds Square. It was built in the British colony of Georgia in the late 1700's by merchant, statesman, and loyalist James Habersham.
It blows my mind that the southern belles wore multiple layers of clothes and survived 135 heat index as just another day with no electricity at all, so not even a fan.
