I received mine via direct deposit back in the middle of April (as I recall), then the letter showed up around the first of May.....no double dipping
. Couldn't figure out why my parents (and most folks they knew) didn't have theirs deposited back then (IRS/SS has their acct. info)....but they received checks via mail within the past week. A total fuster cluck sending them out imo.... and none of us "needed" it either. I tip a LOT more with it fwiw...grocery deli workers, take-outs, drive-thru windows, etc.
