996 headlights are a deal breaker for me. Others may not be as bothered by them and have the mindset that you can't see them when you're driving. I like to look at my cars when I'm not driving them.
The build quality of the 996 is also not to the same standard of the 964 and 993 era cars.
For me, the 964 with the 993 engine would be an easy choice with zero hesitation.
