The 80's was a period of excess and showing off.
Everyone wanted the Turbo, not a narrow body. In high school my friends older brother worked at a shop putting 959 kit bodies on long hoods. Those were an atrocity.
I distinctly remember setting in a early 70's Irish Green Targa in his driveway they just got at auction to flip as a 959.
They ruined that car. Put freaking corvette wheels on it.
