Bugs got boring after a bit. Usually an ant hill was best because it provided lots of fast moving targets. Then you move to trash that you find laying around to see if you can create fire. If you burn old newspaper just enough to turn it black, and then hit it with a perfectly focused beam, it'll create flame. Normally, if you just hit it with the beam, it goes straight to ash with no flame. At least, that was my experience. Wood was harder to light up vs just turning it to charcoal from what I remember.
