The story is that the blast from the engines causes the signal to be lost. I think because of vibration/movement caused by the blast. Seems to me that the antennas are probably directional and the blast probably knocks them around so much that the signal goes. They probably get the footage after the fact when thi signal comes back, but live streams suffer.

The robotic ships that serve as landing platforms for SpaceX rockets now have names that honor legendary sci-fi author Iain M. Banks.

SpaceX has two operational drone ships and has a third under construction. Just Read the Instructions operated in the Pacific for launches from Vandenberg; Of Course I Still Love You operates in the Atlantic for launches from Cape Canaveral. A Shortfall of Gravitas is under construction.

I also heard one of the talking heads mention that they called the astronauts "the dads" around the place.
