HCQ failed to show benefit in the Univ Minn randomized prevention trial: persons exposed to Covid, received HCQ or placebo prophylaxis, endpoint was if they developed either lab-confirmed or symptom-inferred Covid. One can pick at the study methods and there are some weird/interesting subgroup differences, but nonetheless the large randomized controlled (and blinded) trials are starting to report and so far no evidence of HCQ efficacy. Prophylaxis was probably (opinion) HCQ’s best chance to succeed.
In other news, first randomized trial of convalescent plasma has reported, and showed efficacy in severe cases but none in critical - i.e. life threatening - cases. Which kinda makes sense, convalescent plasma is an antibody i.e. immunotherapy, and if the disease has progressed to critical, maybe too late for that.
