It's an internet thing. None of us would talk to a stranger in person the way we type at each other on the internet.
In the real world, the "average" is far less divided than it seems scrolling through an endless stream of sensational stories and memes blaming the "other side" for every one of life's problems.
We're all Americans, we all want life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and all that feel good crap. Stop trying to change everyone's mind who doesn't think like you, make friends, vote for who you want.
