OTOH,
Tents get wet, then mold when packed up
Tents not allowed at many grizzly sites; and not a great idea when allowed in Griz country
I spent 8*30*4 + 5*30*5 nights in tents in the alpine, sub-alpine and deserts as a grad. student. I now have better tents but only use them a few nights a year.
Now, a Vanagon with a tent popup....
