Cat was fully expired upon discovery, though the corpse was in rather good condition.
There was another time where I was letting Nigel play off leash in a park along the banks of the Hudson River/NY Harbor. I was throwing sticks into the water and he would swim after them and fetch. He found a dead seagull, and the corpse was rather decayed. It was a stinky, disintegrating mess...he was really proud of it though. I tried (unsuccessfully) to make him drop it by poking a stick through the corner of his jaw, in an effort to make him gag. He eventually dropped it...thank goodness. I was afraid he would try to eat it.
