Not really a disaster but,

When I was young I was walking a family friends beagle in Victoria. It was on cliffs near a beach and the dog stirred a hornets nest and they attacked. Both the dog and I got swarmed, I got bit on my face, arms, inside my mouth, and ran screaming with my eyes closed off the cliff (16ft?) and fell, my Dad heard the screaming and ran to the edge and caught my fall. The dog ran down the side of the cliff (still being stung) and right into the ocean.

My parents saw the dog and immediately put me in the ocean too, within minutes I had no pain whatsoever....

I continue to use salt water to treat all kinds of bites to this day.
