Once again with our dog Reuben, 9:30 at night in the early spring, it is dark outside. We hear lots of barking from Reuben at something. He had a skunk trapped behind the trash can. He got a good dose of stinky spray. So at 9:40 I head to Target to get some hydrogen peroxide and baking powder. Wandering through a store trying to find two products in different areas is no fun. I get out of there just before the close. Head home and we give Reuben a bath in the skunk stink neutralizing concoction and it works pretty well.
A few months later, he gets nailed by a skunk in the face. We had the ingredients to make the concoction on hand this time. He got a bigger dose of spray and it took several tries to de-stink him.
We called a skunk trapper and we had seen the skunk burrow in the neighborhood association common area. The HOA is paying for trapper. So far he has caught the mother, and one young skunk. The traps are still up and hopefully they will all go away.
