Most people have tight calves, do stretches for this with the knee bent and straight a few times a day, for as long as you plan on walking around. Tight calf muscles cause myriad problems.
Cushioning and the amount of support are what I look at when I am recommending over the counter insoles. Superfeet are pretty good for a lot of people, Spenco also makes good products.
