AFAIK, they're all independently owned and operated. So, the owner of that burned down Wendy's, if he's not a super rich guy with a lot of other businesses, has lost his livelihood and will be fighting the insurance company for a long time. Meanwhile, he's probably still on the hook for rent and property taxes (to pay for the police and fire protection he doesn't get). Unless those workers are needed at other nearby Wendys, they're unemployed. Such a clusterfook all around. Anyone the police
refuse to protect should have an open and shut case for a huge property tax refund and abatement. That might light a fire under some career politicians.
