When Penny had a reaction to fleas he skin would swell and get wrinkley like a shar pei. And she would get really itchy. A benedryl shot calmed the reaction down in about 10 minutes where the pills took hours.
Pepper likes big chewable one of the pills but the other two I have to use those pill pockets. She plays catch by letting it hit the floor then picking it up. That's how she plays frisbee as well. My other two goldens, nothing would hit the floor, even if dropped by accident.
When my MS brother George lived here he told Penny to stay out of his room. She would sit at the door and watch him. Every once in a while he would drop a peanut m&m by accident, but because of his MS he couldn't pick it up. He would say "Okay" then Penny would run in grab the m&m then run back and sit at the door. She was smart and very very trainable. She would not go into his room unless he told her it was okay. Even after he dropped an m&m. Sometimes i would go to talk to him and there were two or three on the floor. He would tell her okay then she would run in snarf up all three and run back out. I think she would have made a great service dog. Only had to show her how to do something once, twice at the most and she was trained. Still miss her.
