Modified diesel , that some working stiff uses to haul concrete, or an excavator . Maybe pull his boat, camper or race car trailer , not cool
O.k, got it.
Eat my smoke yuppie scum .
Hehe heh - I love it. I'm that "MFI guy", except it's more like 250 hp and at least some attempt at a muffler (Dansk RSR style, which surprisingly is about as loud as my Dansk single out sport). And yes, it will make my buddies' eyes water when they follow me, I hear about it all the time.

The difference, though, is none of that is done specifically just to make some kind of a statement, or even worse, specifically just to annoy others. The car is just a throwback to its time, when those "features" were very much a part of the motoring scene, at least with certain cars. It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to do anything about it. Oh, I suppose I could instal some form of modern EFI, or just buy a newer car. I certainly cannot tune the stink out of it - it's just the nature of the beast.

These coal rollin' ass holes, on the other hand, have taken modern trucks that do not do that, that have no need to do that to perform, and have modified them to do that. With the sole purpose of annoying others. No other reason. It actually makes them run worse, and if driven constantly like that, will eventually damage them. So, honestly, not the same situation in the least.

I believe "Karen" is the correct term.

And, no, I'm no "Karen" either. I could care less about these guys. More power to 'em, they are having fun. No harm no foul. Until, that is, they actually do either thoughtless (or intentional) schitt to callously annoy others.

Two stories: My wife and I were sitting at an outdoor cafe in Seattle one nice summer afternoon. Guy pulls up in his massively lifted bro dozer with the 8" diameter open exhaust and parks it curb side right next to all of us dining outside. He left it running as he hopped out of the cab and started for a business next door. One gentleman (seated with his wife) politely asked this guy to shut it off, because the exhaust was pointed directly at all of us trying to eat. The guy stopped and looked at this gentleman and muttered something I couldn't hear and just kept going.

My God was that thing loud, and boy did it stink. So, a young man at another table (again, with his wife or girlfriend) quickly hopped up, opened the door, shut it off, and tossed the keys up on top of a passing metro bus. Meanwhile, another guy must have been calling 911 on his cell, anticipating some level of altercation when the guy came back out. And there almost was... the guy was livid, and in a full-on threatening rant - right when the cops showed up. Of course, no one saw a thing. And he was illegally parked to boot... We saw the ticket getting written, and I assume it got towed, but we left before that happened. What a glorious ending to one man's callous disregard for others. And yes, if it were some stinking old idling 911, I probably would have been the one to ask him to shut it off.

Several years ago, I spent about three weeks in Wichita doing some consulting from an AOG tool engineering perspective at the beginning of the new Air Force Tanker program. I had a second floor hotel room with a balcony. Some guy who was staying there for about two of those weeks had the bro dozer from hell, this one with the massive vertical stack (at least a foot in diameter) up through the bed behind the cab. I left early every morning, like 5:00-5:30 or so, but he left even earlier. He had one of the then new remote start systems on it, and would start it and let it idle for at least 10-15 minutes before he left every morning. No problem whatsoever on the nights he parked it out across the parking lot somewhere, but he often parked it right up against the building, right outside of someone else's room, right under someone else's balcony. Loud as hell, stinky as hell. No consideration for others whatsoever.

As I was having breakfast one morning, I could hear a pretty heated argument outside, so I stepped out on the deck. Down below, a few doors over, was this guy getting into it with another guy still in boxers, tee shirt, and slippers. It was obviously the guy who was unfortunate enough to be in the room right behind the truck. The miserable prick in the truck was shouting things like "I can park wherever the hell I want".

So, why yes, you can... Over the course of the next week or so, he parked right under my balcony several times. Every time he did, I did my best to piss down that big assed stack from up on my balcony. Every time he did, I shot baskets into it with my garbage. When I missed (which was often), I would just run down and pick it up and try again. It was a fun little game for a few days. Apple cores, banana peels, coffee grounds, beer cans, you name it. Unfortunately, he checked out before I could ascertain how much it would take to clog it up.

So, again, no problem with the guys who are considerate about it. Loud Harleys, loud muscle cars, loud stinky diesels - none of them bother me in the least. Only the guys who are obnoxious pricks about it.
