Our airplane uses a special aviation oil, as do most all piston engine airplanes. It is made by Phillips and it is X/C 20/50. For years we just went to a local distributor just a mile from the old office, placed an order, and paid with a credit card. Easy transaction. Go to the loading dock, and they loaded it in.

They were bought out after many long years in business, and the entire oil business moved to Stroud, OK. That is a the city 1/2 way to Tulsa, so a 45 mile drive from my house. But wait, they deliver once per week. OK, but they want me to fill out a 5 page credit application to open an account, that we will use a credit card, and pay as we buy. Crap. So we just stay a "cash" customer, and order two cases of oil at a time. I called today to get more oil. It was like asking for a bottle of prune juice at a bar. She could not find our past orders, and she had no clue on what the oil was. She was going to have a salesman call me back.

I figured what the heck, I wonder it Amazon has it. Yep, and it is cheaper. Two cases will be here on Friday, delivered to my door. It took just minutes to get it the order placed as usual. No wonder so many places are going under and Amazon stock is $3,040 per share. I wish I had bought a lot of it when it was cheap, the stock, not the oil.
