Something I thought about today.... Hagarty seems to put manual cars 20 percent over sporto. How reliable that is I have no idea, but it is an indicator.
Your friend dipping the car seems pretty serious! Does he still retain the original sporto trans with the engine and trans matching numbers? If not he might want to keep it manual. Then he's still got a manual non numbers matching car like many out there. Still a manual MFI 69E. He may want to think about investment vs return on that serious looking project on restoration I was thinking, He may still be into it for less than we know, and doing the work himself for almost free? Let's hope so.
