The only thing cats really hate are other cats they don't know.
Dogs are toys.
We just lost our cat of nearly 17 years: I rescued her and her brother after they were abandoned. She was a beast.
Many dogs over the years, all she did was make sure they knew who ran the program.
Give it a try, adjust from there.
