Reviving a really old thread as I have a new-to-me '99 R1100S.
I'm wondering if I have one of the very early ones -- VIN is dated 6/98 and the last 5 digits are about 100 less than Dr. Curve's listed in this thread.
I'm still doing shakedown rides, but I think it will make a fine sporty tourer.
