Thanks in advance for advice/opinions - I find the spoon-related info here much more concise and reliable than in other forums/reviews I read. There is a great wealth of knowledge here. (I did search previous posts for this - am interested in an update of any new info.)

I'm considering a lever rifle (and possible accompanying pistol) in .357 magnum. I like the idea of sharing ammo between the two for versatility. Intended use is target shooting, plinking, and occasional critters.

Rifle-wise I'm looking at Marlin's offerings. Winchesters are probably too nice for my intended use. Any suggestions for others to review? If buying used, any suggestions for models to look out for?

Regarding pistols - Looks like choices are limited primarily to revolvers unless looking at something fancy from Magnum Research. Revolver suggestions? Am I missing any semi-auto options?
