Not much is. I suspect Hale-Bopp was pretty much a once in a lifetime. The moon is, I think, about 1/2 degree across. The Andromeda Galaxy is ~3 degrees across (but most folks only see a portion of the whole thing. I read that Hale-Bopp topped out at 40-45 degrees across. I remember seeing it and thinking it was so big and bright that it hardly seemed real (Biblical). It set a bunch of records for comets, something like 4 or 8 weeks brighter than a brightness of 0, visible to the naked eye for 18 months, etc....
