Sorry that I didn't put this out in the original post: I have a few .22's (and an eclectic mix at that - Winchester 53 single-shot semi-auto, Stevens 416 heavy-barrel bolt-action, and a Marlin 39A). My bigger stuff starts at 30-06. Was contemplating something in between...
I've used the subsonic .22LR; seems to shoot well.
