Well, not quite, but they are pricey. Depending on how big the yard is (mine is pretty small) there is a no need to get the 7.5ah replacement when this one dies out, in fact I have a smaller 2.5ah that came with the trimmer and I used that the first mow while the other battery charged and it had more than enough juice to mow and blow, and at $85, a replacement is probably on par with how much I would spend on gas over the ~5 years the batteries are supposed to last.

The ability to fold so I can store it in my garage, as opposed to outside under a tarp with the gas mower, was enough to justify the cost for me.

One thing I didnt expect was I already had a corded blower and thought I'd be selling the Ego blower that came with the trimmer combo, but turns out thats my favorite tool. I had no idea how much I hated messing with an extension cord until I didnt have to anymore!
