I have had the same Honda mower since 1990, I have changed the oil twice on it, cleaned the air filter about 4 times and it mows my quarter acre reliably every time. One pull start (if you remember to choke it) and not a hard pull at that.
I store it in an unheated shed outside, right beside my Honda snow blower, my Honda powered high pressure washer and my Homelite whipper. All start on first pull.
I see zero upside to an electric of any kind. If any of these do die, I will just buy the closest equivalent I can find and never need to worry.
Now that I think about it, I might just change the oil and clean filters on all of them...its been 4 or 5 years.....
