It is really cool that the damage has not been fixed and it still there to see.
If you ever are in Hawaii, and go to the Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbor you are close to Hickam, AFB. I suspect only active duty or retired military can get on base which is a shame. We lived on Hickam in 1969 and 1970. Dad worked at the PACAF headquarters. The front of the building is still full of bullet holes from the Japanese attack. People died in that building. They leave the damage as a war memorial, but also to remind the personnel that work in the building that the USA was indeed attacked, and we were unprepared for war.
