These are my go-to for kitchen use. I'm not super knowledgeable as far as kitchen knives are concerned & tend to replace the ones I use most every three to five years. I don't spend a lot on them, because my wife is a knife killer - throwing them in the sink, pans, etc., washing them in the dish washer & all kinds of other horrible things. I have three cleavers. The one pictured, I've had for maybe forty years or more. I don't see any reason to buy sets.
