On our many hikes with our lab Glenda...whenever she begins to hear the sound of a brook - she runs ahead, plunks herself down in the water and quietly waits for us to catch up. She remains lying in the water, watching us pass, until we get about 20 or so yards up the trail from her position, at which point she springs out and comes running...waiting to shake off until she is precisely positioned next to one of us so she can give us a shower!
When other hikers pass in the opposite direction, they invariably reach out to pat Glenda, at which point I always say "she's very friendly, but also very wet!"
