I received my tag renewal notice today for the 911. For many years it was $21.50 to get the new sticker. A few years ago the legislature raised the tag "fees" and raised the renewal itself to $26, then turned around and added a Insurance fee of $1.50 to verify that my insurance is real. then they added in a mail fee that even a tag agent adds in if I go in person. That brings it to $29.50
Now I can drive a few miles to a tag agent and get it done in 5 minutes then drive home, or I can now do it on-line. So on-line for me it is, and of course there is $2.50 "convenience fee" to use a credit card. With my old El Camino paid for since 1992 I can likely make the round trip for about the same price and save the $2.50 put I waste my time.
So the tag is renewed, and it will be mailed to me in a week or so. I have until the end of September before tho old tag expires, so I am spending money before necessary, but the 30 bucks now and no worry of forgetting and letting it expire is worth it to do it now mentality.
