Right. As I understand the convoluted anti 2A laws in CA, if you transport your gun to the range, set up and supervise it's use you can share it with others at the range and then transport it home.
If you loan a firearm to a friend for a period where it is outside of your control they must already be a registered firearm owner with a completed background check. It is a muddy area and I am not sure if this must go through an FFL to be legal. I am not comfortable with this and I think it is easily misinterpreted so I won't do it. We can thank the San Bernardino shooter for this one.
