I'm under the impression that you live out in the sticks there in Az. Like my Sister does in chino valley.
Her steep access dirt/ Gravel road is doable most times with 2wd. But it turns totally slippery in wet or snowy conditions requiring 4wd.
That seems the nature of the soil there, very slippery when wet. It's not wet all that often but when it is you got to have good 4wd.
