I would absolutely leave it on for news sites. Whether they are related to TV stations, cable stations, networks or newspapers, most of those sites are some of the worst that I've ever seen for trackers and extra crap running in the background.
Here's a partial list of scripts running on sites for CNN (there were 5 or 6 more that didn't fit on a screen without scrolling) and foxnews. And it wouldn't be surprising if enabling some of these didn't add more to the list. Often when you enable one, it may add another 1-5 to the list.
I have the "noscript" addon running in firefox so I can enable or disable these. Also, besides no script and uBlock, I also have Pi-hole which would probably block some of these even if I was allowing them.
