I've cleaned the crease and used POR15 Metal Ready (now called Metal Prep) to remove the rust. As soon as I get an implement that will let me gracefully apply POR15 I'm doing that. Then some cavity wax.
I've been unable to find the PN for the M6x15mm self-threading pan head screws. But since I have used my tap/die set to clean out the threads and they look good I will just use standard (non-self-threading) equivalents. I've also ordered new vapor shield.
My heart rate has come way down and I'm over all the angst I had when I first discovered this. I now really want to have a pro look at the door fitment though to see if they can tell why I get wind noise; it would be awesome to have that little nit fixed after 23 years of ownership.
