A few years ago a local TV news reporter asked if I would do an interview, I said sure.
The topic concerned was a local flu outbreak and sanitation. Do you wash your hands often, etc..?
I gave her a good cut (her words), but then was asked to repeat it because she didn't have the camera rolling. I had wasted enough time already, but had plenty, so I changed the message and went the other direction.
First, I lead her to believe I was a germophobe, always being conscious of gas pump handles, public bathrooms, people coughing, etc... When the camera did roll, she got the herd immunity theory, problems with germophobes being the weak link within the community and germ spreading being a good thing.
I was not aired. They report what they want to be heard, whether it's truth or not.
