Texting definitely has a place in the varied methods of communication we now have available. In many ways, it’s superior to phone calls. In others, it falls short. I find that 90% of phone calls, (at least), can be accomplished by a short text.
Long texts do suck. If something requires many questions and answers, a short phone call is better. The beauty of a text conversation is the written record of what each person said/typed. I sometimes need to go back and
refresh my memory of what I said, much less the other person.
The biggest beauty of text is that you do not have to answer the instant that someone is trying to contact you, like a phone call. You can answer or continue the conversation in 10 minutes, an hour or never. When I’m driving and someone texts me an address, I touch it and it opens in maps. A couple more easy taps on touch screen and I’m being led there by GPS. I use it constantly, every day of my life. Even when I’m on the phone w someone, they are frequently texting me links or addresses. I don’t have to remember schit like appointments, (or remember to write them down later), they are right there in a text conversation.
Anyone who doesn’t understand texting or thinks that it’s the same as email is 3000 years old, basically. Most people under 50 will not answer their phones, ever, unless a call has been agreed on via text.
