I have a couple of air cooled cars that I rarely drive. One, I took apart for a minor problem years ago where I had to order a part...and have never fully reassembled (as I moved on to something else while the part was on order). I just don't have the time and when I have time...not enough energy/enthusiasm since no one I know really appreciates the cars but me (so a lonely hobby). I have kept mine as a retirement hobby...hoping to have more time/ambition then. When I go out into the garage and see them in their shiny, shapely wonderfulness, I cannot really imagine giving them up (must be what it is like to have a mistress)...as they really never get old or dull. They are near perfect, so I do hate driving them when I have to park in a less safe place. Not because of their value, but because I would really hate a paint chip or dent (like protecting one's children).
I really don't need the money that selling one would bring (they are as good an investment as any)...and cannot bring myself to spend money on a new car. So, I guess my kids will each get one some day. They will probably sell them before my body is cold.
