We had an '80 Accord Hatchback. Stripper model since we were newly married and relatively poor at the time. Put 99k miles on it and sold it after, oh gee, 7-8 years.

The '83 Accord 4-dr in metallic grey made me feel like I was putting on a three piece suit when we got it. I remember we had to wait for that car to come in to the dealer. I don't think we had to pay over sticker for it though. When we picked it up, I remember we got in the car and my wife says aren't you going to start the engine? It was already running. That was a really great car.
It did develop a problem with one plug at @75k miles. Turns out a torn spark plug boot allowed that plug wire to short to the dip stick if it was pushed close to it. This caused that plug to foul and the cylinder to run hot, frying the pre-combustion chamber valve seal. Took it to Jackson Racing which was close by us at the time to have it fixed. When I picked it up, the guy at the counter hollers back to the mechanic in the shop "Hey, that guy with the Accord is here!"
Mechanic comes out and asks me 'Who does the maintenance on your car?'
Me. No one else has ever been under the hood.
'You should be proud, I've never seen such a well maintained Honda as yours'.
Made my day.
