Back in 1984 when the Carrera model was first introduced to the USA Porsche of course had press cars for all the car magazines. Car and Driver, Road and Track and the rest that do car evaluations all tested the 911.
It was crowned as the fastest car one could by in America. It had the fastest 0 to 60, fasted 1/4 mile time and the highest top speed. All with the whopping 200 HP of US cars.
Corvette did not sell any Corvettes for one year, and then had a pitiful choked Vette that made less than 200 HP in a car that weighs a lot, and had more cowl shake and fenders flopping around than a rubber car.
When is the last time you saw a mid 1980s Vette at all that was still basically stock?
