Back in my 914 days we had an autocross at an old go cart track. We were having fun and one of my competitors had a 914 that had some mechanical issue that I don't remember after 30 years or so. Anyway he offered to let me use his race slicks for a few laps. So we jacked up up my 914, and did a wheel change. It is astonishing how much more grip it had. I never did get the tires to slid in the corners as the track was short enough to keep speeds down. I did have ABS all of sudden. I could stand on the brakes and the car just stopped. It was just mind blowing that the tires had that level of grip that the brakes could not lock them up. The 914 just stopped at an astonishing rate.
