Since I'm an old fart that doesn't like to throw anything that still works away, I'm looking for some help on a replacement battery for my daughter's old HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop.

As it sits right now, I can run it off the charger plugged into the wall. The battery is pretty much toast as it goes to >70% in less than a half hour just doing nothing on the computer.

I got on Newegg and looked up batteries for it and prices seem to be all over the place.

What is the low down on them?

I'd like to have this as a machine to take with me when I travel so I can download pictures to it to empty my SD cards. I don't want to have to rely on finding a place to plug it in though, which would be the case now.

Yes, it's old and running Win XP, but the HD is only about 1/3 full and I can empty more space if needed.

What do you guys think?
I don't have the money to just buy another laptop, but could come up with the money to buy a battery if it's less than say $50 or so.
