I checked out this car with cash in hand, intended to buy.
A few things were apparent:
1) It is a true, solid example of what was advertised. Drove well, no rust, all there.

2) seller is one heck of a photographer. Car looks much better in pics that real life.
He lowered the advertised price $1000, then tried to pretend he didn't.

3) The paint was a garage special with over spray on lots of trim. Must have been masked off by a 6 year old who couldn't stay between the lines.

4) It was all there except for the arm rest on passenger door. But it showed it's age.

5) It drove fine, no big clunks or problems. Suspension was tired and needed to be gone through, but was OK for a 55 year old car.
The engine had a tick at first but diminished as it warmed up. Prolly a lifter, I suppose it could be piston slap but it sounded like a single tick, not two per stroke. Not that big of a concern.

6) At $14.9k it was priced well. Not really cheap, but not too high. Maybe $3 or $4k lower than mecum auction price.

7) to be really happy with this car I would have to repaint and redo trim and redo interior. Seats were not ripped but were saggy and tired.

8) Turns out I was not in love with it after all. Just a fleeting crush. To make it into something I would really like, I'd have to put more $$$ into it that it would be worth and that would make me hate it. I'd be tired of owning this car within a year.
I passed.
Bottom line is, I like the money more than the old car I could get with it.
GOML

Now if I could find a similar condition example of the car below with a 383 or 440 w/4 speed for under $50k .........
