I've worked there, and my nephew still does. You can set aside an order until you get the correct box for it (runners refill your supply constantly), and work the other stuff on the line until you've got the proper box. But most people just say "screw it" and throw it in whatever's within reach since that's easiest. And people know almost nothing about what they're packaging - I literally watched a kid package a hard drive and RAM with a bunch of magnets once.

Ironically, I also did a stint in Returns, where you got to see the results of some crappy packaging jobs. I once got back a shattered glass vase that had been shipped with loose rocks, no packaging around either. The customer comment just said "Seriously? SERIOUSLY?"
