You want to hear it on cold start up. The early cars could also have chain rail wear that rattles or lifter bleed down from sitting over night and also rattle on start up. I’d spend a couple hundred to have a indy Porsche shop do a pre-purchase inspection. Major work on the engine or trans could be more expensive that the car. The PPI is money well spent.
Was the clutch done with the IMS bearing? Which IMS bearing was used? Are there maintenance records? You know, pay me now or pay me later. We used to say about air cooled 911’s (before they skyrocketed in price) that they’re all $20k cars. Cheap ones need repairs and the good ones get top dollar. They all end up to be market price at some point.
