Anyone who owns a gun and does not teach their children about safety is fully responsible for any accidents. They have not exercised good judgement!

Any parent who does not teach weapons safety to their children (you teach them not to run with scissors, no?) should feel ashamed! Even if you do not like guns, knives, etc, you should instruct your children how to act around them and what to do. At a minimum, every child should be taught to not touch, seek a parent!

Aurel, your concerns are addressed in concealed carry laws and proper enforcement of existing regulations. New laws and media buzzwords do not make the world a safer place. Knowledge and enforcement do.
