Hey I put and MSD 6A on my type IV powered 912 and it works fine. You should be able to put this on anything with a distributor. In my case it did not show much power gain, but it sure does burn cleaner. It really helps with start-up too. It was very easy to install following included directions although I did have to order the MSD tach adapter to make the tach work properly...Good Luck!
