This makes no sense - the nostalgia is exactly why the prices are going up - you can't "strip back the nostalgia". No collector car is ever going to be as good as a modern car in practicality and driving experience - but that is exactly how they've reached "collector car status". It's the quirkiness and the fond memories of a past time that drive prices up.
