Buying a classic car solely based based on price is a recipe for disaster. Condition should be your driving factor. You will probably enjoy the car much longer if you paid a bit more to get a really nice car...especially for a first timer. DIY'ers will fair better (on price) but will put the time and money to get the car right. It really comes down to what type of buyer and owner you are. There are a lot of cars that are technologically better and faster for the money but that is not why we own them. I for one enjoy the simplicity and the analog feel of the car. Are they perfect?...heck no! but I won't trade mine in for a new one.
