I finish the damn thing most times but still enjoy the ride itself a lot. Just turned 54 a couple days ago. I tell you this, when they get on the gas and sprint up this 1/4 mile long hill off the saddle, I can hang up until near the top and they spit me out if I don't get enough miles in that week. Right when Covid started, I was doing 250 pretty hard miles per week. I felt like if I was 23 again. Once I reduced that mileage to about 75, a couple weeks later, I feel the difference in the power coming out of my legs.
I ride a Time with Shimano now.

I’m 53 and it seems like my power has really dropped in the last 2 years.
I’m not doing group rides these days so hopefully that’s the main difference and not just my age. I still feel strong when I’m putting in the miles but my average solo ride speed has dropped a mph or so in the last couple years.
